Hyundai Motor Group has attracted more than 1.5 million subscribers for its connected car services in April, increasing its presence in the burgeoning car-to-X market.

The South Korean automotive conglomerate said Sunday that the accumulated number of subscribers to its connected car services – Blue Link offered by Hyundai Motor, UVO offered by Kia Motors and Genesis Connected Service – topped 1.5 million in April. The milestone figure comes after the group celebrated 1 million subscription 10 months ago.

The connected car service enables a car to get connected with other devices inside and outside the vehicle via internet access for various functions, such as remote vehicle control, sharing driving data with road and traffic systems for safe driving, and making payment for gas and parking.

The auto giant entered the connected car service market in 2003. Its auto brands Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors launched their exclusive services Blue Link and UVO, respectively, in 2012. Their connected car services are offered in Korea as well as abroad, including the U.S. and China.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to have all its vehicles equipped with connected car solutions by 2022 with an aim to have 10 million subscribers.
