South Korea’s leading cable maker LS Cable & System Ltd. (LS C&S) has bagged a 100 billion won ($82.6 million) cable deal from Singapore PowerGrid Ltd., the company announced Friday.

Under the contract, LS C&S will supply 400 kilometers of high-voltage and low-voltage cables to replace the aged ones by the end of next year.

The replacement order is the second from Singapore PowerGrid, the company said.

Singapore remains a big market with higher demand for cables on continuing industrialization and urbanization projects. Industry peers from Europe, Japan and China have competed for the top but it is hard to expand forays into the market due to the stricter quality requirements.

“LS C&S based on its active investment, business knowhow and credibility has supplied cables for years to the country with higher quality requirements,” said an official at the cable maker.
