South Korea¡¯s telecommunications company SK Telecom Co. interviews aspiring recruits online this month amid lingering virus risks, the company announced Wednesday.

Interviewees will receive the testkits – two Galaxy tablet PCs, tablet PC holders and a guide book – a week before the interviews. Access to the internet will be offered free of charge.

SK Telecom will have test sessions twice before the event. Various security measures will be in place to prevent interviewees from leaking test questions or using unnecessary features. Testkits will be collected after the interviews, the company said.

¡°Fairness was the top priority when we planned the online interviews. Job seekers will be able to fully demonstrate their ability under the same conditions,¡± said a company official.

As 5G leader, SK Telecom has moved fast in employing videoconferencing technologies during the epidemic. Its video call service now is available in full HD resolution on 3G and 4G networks and in QHD quality on 5G, greater than the HD quality of Zoom video call frequently used for virtual meetings by companies.

To pitch the video call service as a new tool for recruitment, SK Telecom is planning to add more upgrades like addition of simultaneously viewing participants and AI-powered face recognitions for identification.

¡®Untact,¡¯ or non-contact, is setting a new norm in recruitment in Korea. The country¡¯s largest conglomerate Samsung Group, the most chased workplace by college graduates and job aspirants, held its group-wide entrance exam online for the first time on May 30-31.

LG Electronics, Kakao, CJ Group and Daelim Industrial also have carried out interviews remotely.
