Books are added to the lengthening shopping list of early morning door delivery service Korean online malls have been vying fiercely.
SSG.com, online market place of South Korea’s retail giant Shinsegae Group, will begin early morning door-to-door book delivery service from Friday in partnership with the country’s largest bookstore Kyobo Book Center.
Under the service, the list of 200 books frequently picked by female readers in their 30s will be available as the SSG.com delivery is mostly used by them.
Ordered books are shipped to SSG.com’s logistics centers in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province and then sent to near customers starting early Friday morning. Customers also can select the time of delivery they want.
All deliveries will be packaged to protect books from damage.
SSG.com currently offers two delivery options – one is general delivery for 100,000 items ranging from fresh food to non-food items, and the other is early morning delivery for 30,000 goods as of May.
The addition of books will further raise the market competitiveness of SSG.com, the company said.
“Novels, essays, educational books and children books will be available first and then more will be added to the lineup to offer more than 700 books by the end of the year,” said Choi Taek-won, head of sales division at SSG.com.
To celebrate the partnership, SSG.com will hold a giveaway event on the website on May 22-June 4.
