Hyundai Motor Group stayed committed new mobility drive despite of the virus-battered global automobile industry prospects.

Its executive vice chairman Chung Euisun on Wednesday attended the technology showcase held by fledgling Korean startup and its mobility partner Code42.ai together with senior executives.

Chung reaffirmed support to Code42.ai¡¯s development of an integrated mobility services platform at the event, said a source.

Code42.ai is a Korean startup founded in March last year by Song Chang-hyun, former chief technology officer (CTO) of the country¡¯s top internet portal service provider Naver Corp. and former CEO of Naver Labs, where he spearheaded the development of innovative technologies such as voice recognition, machine translation, computer vision and deep learning.

The innovative startup develops urban mobility operating system (UMOS), a comprehensive mobility platform that supports a wide array of modern mobility services such as autonomous cars, drones and delivery robots for ride sharing, smart logistics and e-commerce. This is expected to change the paradigm of the mobility market.

With its blueprint, Code42.ai has attracted more than 30 billion won ($24.7 million) investment from big conglomerate names including SK, LG and CJ, the largest among all domestic mobility startups.

Hyundai Motor Group struck strategic partnership with the company to collaborate across multiple areas and pledged nearly 7 billion won investment last year alone.

Code42.ai this year announced to recruit the industry¡¯s best talents in the purpose built autonomous vehicle technology.
