Hyundai Motor Co. has become active in viral and inventive marketing to connect to younger and broader consumer base at home and abroad.
According to the automaker on Tuesday, cumulative users of the Channel Hyundai service, its smart TV app featuring multimedia content and digital interface for customers to experience the brand, topped 70,000 in just a month after the launch.
Downloads surpassed 55,900, and visits to the website 14,100. The average watch time for a video on Channel Hyundai was 4 minutes and 3 seconds, also much longer than 59 seconds of videos available on other websites.
Channel Hyundai, available in 197 countries across the globe, offers various online content and services to give customers direct access to the brand. Three categories currently are available within the app – Live, TV and Models.
The Live category offers live-streams of various events such as vehicle launches and presentations. The TV category features videos covering a wide range of lifestyle topics from Hyundai¡¯s partnership with the art community to motorsport activities. The Models category is a kind of virtual interactive showroom for those who want to know more about Hyundai Motor vehicles.
Hyundai Motor plans to add more original contents with a theme of automobile lifestyle within the year. A documentary film about its motorsport team will also be made soon.
¡°Downloads of the smart TV app are estimated to exceed 300,000 this year, and the company has set a target to attract 1 million users until next year,¡± said a Hyundai Motor official.
On the offline front, Hyundai Motor runs a special brand week dubbed Hyundai Heritage Week to exhibit its first-generation vehicle models such as Pony and Galloper on Oct. 27-Nov. 8 at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang.
Visitors will be able to test-drive Pony 2 hatchback, first-gen Grandeur and Scoupe from Nov. 3.
The company also has unveiled a kids¡¯ car based on the design of its EV concept car 45 on the same day.
