Woowa Brothers, operator of South Korea¡¯s food delivery app Baedal Minjok and one of the few unicorns in the country, has rewarded its employees with universal 12-day holiday from December 21 to January 1.

The company¡¯s founder and chief executive officer Kim Bong-jin said in a Facebook posting last week said the company will leave the minimum staff and have almost 1,000 staff to take the year-end week off, extra to their annual paid holidays.

Excluding weekends and Christmas holiday, almost all employees will receive a leave of six days, according to an official from the company.

The company is recognized as a unicorn startup with corporate value estimated to reach 3 trillion won ($2.6 billion) or above. Thanks to the generous employee benefits and perks, it has kept the turnover rate very low since its foundation. It allows its employees to leave the office early on birthdays or anniversaries. It takes flexible working hours and has a ¡®co-work space¡¯ to stimulate creativeness and cooperation of employees.

Woowa Brothers has attracted more than 506 billion won investment from global investors since its inception. Baedal Minjok¡¯s monthly orders grew explosively from 5 million in early 2015 to 29 million as of April 2019, the company said.
