GS25, the convenience store brand run by GS Retail Co., earned most among local peers in Korea, where the number of around-the-clock stores per head now almost doubles that of Japan.

According to data released by the Fair Trade Commission, sales from a GS25 store measured by a space of 3.3 square meters averaged 31.29 million won ($26,798.56), far outpacing the No. 2 CU with such average revenue of 26.94 billion won.

High-quality fresh foods like packed lunches, rice balls and sandwiches drove the revenue growth with freshly brewed coffee of its own Cafe25 brand, GS25 said.

Most of customers who buy Cafe25 coffee bring other foods also to the counter, according to the chain.
