South Korea¡¯s LG Electronics Inc. will support mobile e-sports competition ESL Mobile Open Season3 organized by the world¡¯s largest e-sports company Electronic Sports League to promote its dual-screen smartphone LG G8X ThinQ, the company announced Thursday.

The competition will run from Thursday (local time) to Nov. 15 across the United States where contenders play top mobile games such as Battle Ground, Clash of Clans and Asphalt 9: Legends. Finalists will use LG G8X ThinQ (Known as LG V50S in Korea) while competing in the finals to be held in Atlanta on Nov. 15, which will be broadcasted live across the globe via various channels such as YouTube and Twitch.

LG Electronics plans to set up a separate booth at the arena and display its newest phones to allow fans and visitors to experience the dual-screen products first hand. The company becomes the first smartphone maker to sponsor an e-sports competition.

¡°LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen and its two OLED screens will bring a completely new meaning to the immersive mobile gaming experience,¡± said Cho Ju-wan, president and CEO of LG North America. ¡°Our partnership with ESL as the exclusive phone for Season 3 finals of the ESL Mobile Open in North America is a testament to LG Dual Screen`s immediate potential to revolutionize mobile gaming."

The premium phone comes with two 6.4-inch displays and a ¡®free stop hinge¡¯ to allow users to control the angle of the second screen like a laptop screen.

¡°We continue to believe in and take an innovative approach to the mobile esports landscape and LG is the perfect partner to help ESL advance that,¡± said Paul Brewer, Senior Vice President of Brand Partnerships at ESL.

The G8X ThinQ already hit the Korean market as V50S ThinQ, an upgrade version of the V50 ThinQ that drew strong sales of almost 600,000 units since its launch in May. The sale of the new version in North America and Europe will begin after the domestic launch. The V50S ThinQ will become LG¡¯s first dual-screen phone that hits the strategic North American market later this year.
