Genesis, Hyundai Motor’s design-focused luxury brand, Monday announced Filippo Perini, designer of supercars, as its chief designer at the Genesis Advanced Design Studio in Europe.

The appointment of the former head designer of Lamborghini leverages his expertise in both advanced and production design, as well as in leading design teams in streamlining digital design processes, the Korean car brand said.

Perini is a seasoned, world-class designer who has spent decades shaping high-performance vehicles on behalf of premium and luxury brands alike.

Perini received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and master’s degree in automotive design from Politecnico di Milano. He has worked for major design and performance-focused car brands, including Alfa Romeo, Audi and Lamborghini. Most recently, Perini was the Head of Design and Design Innovation at Italdesign. In 2003, when he worked for Volkswagen, he was involved in the development of Audi’s A5 Coupe and TT concept cars.

Filippo’s vast experience with European luxury brands makes him a natural fit to the philosophy of the Genesis brand, and his insight will be instrumental for the development of each of the brand’s upcoming projects, according to Genesis.
