Galaxy Note 10, the 10th-year anniversary version of Samsung Electronics¡¯ iconic pen-enabled smartphone series, has made impressive debut at home with pre-orders topping 1.3 million, the largest of all Galaxy phones.

Samsung Electronics said Tuesday that it booked 1.3 million pre-orders for its newest premium Galaxy Note 10 smartphone in Korea, more than doubling from the pre-orders for its predecessor Galaxy Note 9 a year ago and even better than the best preorder record of 1 million made for Galaxy S8 in 2017.

Such enthusiastic response is largely owed to a second version offered in less bulky size and weight and also in glamorous color that helped to draw in female consumers. The smaller 6.3-inch Note 10 has similar size specs to Galaxy S10 and weighs 168 grams.

The most popular model was Galaxy Note 10 Plus with a 256 GB storage in Aura Glow color, according to the company.

Market experts, however, say sales could be different from pre-orders due to its heft sale prices. Usually half of pre-orders lead to actual purchases, but wireless carriers set the official subsidies on the new phones in the range of 280,000 won to 450,000 won, rather lower than subsidies of up to 700,000 won offered for Galaxy S10 5G models.

The Galaxy Note 10 phones will officially hit stores on Friday.
