Samsung Galaxy Note 10¡¯s pre-orders staying 20-30% ahead of its predecessor

The 10th-year-anniversary phones of Samsung Electronics¡¯ iconic pen-enabled Galaxy Note have been met with satisfactory demand, with pre-orders exceeding 20 to 30 percent of its predecessor.

SK Telecom Co., one of the major mobile carriers in South Korea, said Sunday that it has received about 20 percent bigger pre-orders of the Galaxy Note 10 smartphones than its predecessor during the first two days, with greater demand for the phablet-size 6.8-inch Plus model although Samsung Note became available in regular phone size for the first time.

The mobile carrier has been receiving pre-orders for Galaxy Note 10 via its online store since Friday.

Samsung Electronics unveiled the latest of its pen-enabled smartphone in New York last Wednesday (local time), releasing the new device in two screen sizes – 6.3-inch Note 10 and 6.8-inch Note 10 Plus – for the first time ever.

Initial consumer response was especially hot for the bigger Galaxy Note 10 Plus in Korea with eight out of 10 pre-orders for Samsung¡¯s new flagship premium handset was the Plus version.

Of the consumers who placed a pre-order for the Galaxy Note 10 smartphone through SK Telecom, 60 percent was male and 56 percent either in their 30s or 40s, the mobile carrier said.

The most popular color so far, especially for the Galaxy Note 10 Plus with a 256 GB storage is Aura Blue, which is offered exclusively by SK Telecom. The Note 10 series are also available in other colors - Aura Glow, Aura White, and Aura Black.

SK Telecom said it also has expanded its special same-day delivery event from current Seoul area to other major cities across the country, including Busan, Daejeon, and Gwangju, to further bolster the phone¡¯s sales. If an SK Telecom customer orders a Galaxy Note 10 smartphone through its online store T World Direct by 3 p.m., the mobile carrier delivers the new handset to the customer by the evening on the same day.

KT Corp., another major mobile carrier in Korea, also said pre-orders of the Galaxy Note 10 are over 20 percent larger than the predecessor Galaxy Note 9 and 50 percent more than the Galaxy S10 5G smartphone. The company said the demand for the new handset in Aura Red, a color exclusively available at KT, has been especially high.
