South Korean low-cost carrier T¡¯way Air Co. will add flights from Busan, Korea to Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Sep. 6-Oct. 26 to digest growing demand for traveling to the second most popular tourist destination in Taiwan and compensate for lass of travelers to Japan.

Its services to Taiwan will be expanded to six, with the addition of the new Busan- Kaohsiung route that will be available four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the company said Thursday. Flights will depart from Busan at 11:05 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday, at 12:35 p.m. on Friday, and at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, it added.

T¡¯way Air currently runs four regular routes to Taiwan from Gimpo to Taipei, from Incheon to Kaohsiung, from Incheon to Taizhong and from Daegu to Taipei, together with a code-sharing flight route between Busan and Taipei in partnership with Tigerair Taiwan.

It is the only carrier in Korea servicing flights to all three big cities of Taiwan and also is adding more departure cities to bring more options for travelers to the country.

Kaohsiung is a coastal city in southern Taiwan, which is well known for its beautiful beaches and various tourist attractions like Pier-2 Art Center, Lotus Lake, the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, the Love River and Liuhe Night Market. It has become one of the popular destinations in the country for backpackers and travelers from Korea recently since the appearance in some TV programs.
