South Korea¡¯s top automaker Hyundai Motor Co. on Thursday released the new Ioniq with upgraded external and interior designs, and safety and eco-friendly features, three years after the country¡¯s popular green car first hit the market.
The new facelift vehicle has a infortainment system with an 8-inch display that is comparable with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, mobile connectivity software.
The new Ioniq is also embedded with intelligent safety features that were only available in top trim level in the first models. All trims of the new Ioniq will be provided with forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, and front car departure alert as basic specifications.
The new Ioniq also comes with a green zone driver mode that can expand motor drive when entering streets designated as green zones such as residential areas, large hospitals, and schools that need cleaner air. The green zone driver mode is designed to help improve air quality by expanding motor drive and delaying engine starting point, the company explained. It also makes the car battery charged in advance before the car enters a green zone based on the projected navigation course whilst in eco mode.
The hybrid version of the new Ioniq is priced in between 22.42 million won ($19,958) and 26.93 million won including special consumption tax and plug-in 31.34 million won and 33.94 million won.
