Samsung Electronics will field a foldable concept and LG Electronics enhanced camera capabilities backed by artificial intelligence at the upcoming Mobile World Congress where stars are born to raise the bar for the handset standard.

LG Electronics will unveil its new flagship G8 ThinQ employing a Qualcomn Snapdragon 855 processor, a teardrop notch display and triple rear camera at the biggest annual mobile event scheduled to kick off on Feb. 25 in Barcelona, Spain.

Industry watchers expect the new LG phone may feature 4K LCD screen and an audio system dubbed Crystal Sound OLED (CSO) that uses a sound emitting display panel. The phone will likely sell in Korea in March.

MWC has been a major stage where smartphone manufacturers around the world vie in its latest mobile technologies. Samsung Electronics plans to hold a standalone unpack event for its 10th anniversary flagship model Galaxy S10 label in San Francisco in the U.S. about a week before the trade show in Spain and reserve the much-awaited foldable phone for the Barcelona show where it usually unveils the newest S series.

China’s Huawei Technologies Co. is likely to show off its flagship P30 series at the MWC. Its predecessor P20 Pro was the industry’s first smartphone featuring triple camera in the rear. Industry sources also expect the upcoming P30 Pro would have four cameras and the company may even challenge Samsung Electronics with its own foldable version..

Japan’s Sony Corp. that sent out invites to its MWC 2019 press conference scheduled on February 25 is likely to roll out Experia XZ4, which is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch 21:9 screen and triple camera. Other big name brands expected to reveal their new products at the MWC are OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo.
