Samsung Elec releases new 8K and 4K QLED TV lineup for 2019

Samsung Electronics Co. on Monday has released new 2019 QLED TV lineup in various sizes and technical specs on home turf.

The latest premium lineup consists of 18 models – 8K resolution Q950R series in sizes of 65-inch to 98-inch and 4K resolution Q90R, Q80R, Q70R and Q60R series in sizes of 49-inch to 82-inch. The 98-inch 8K model will be launched in the first half of this year, and additional lifestyle TV lines of ¡°The Frame¡± and ¡°Serif TV¡± fitted with QLED panels will also be available soon.

All new models touted Samsung¡¯s proprietary Quantum Processor AI, a new feature that automatically scales up the sound and images of contents into near-4K and near-8K quality based on the machine-learning artificial intelligence.

The enhanced contrast, expressive resolution and wider color palette of 8K models offer 5,000 nits of peak brightness with HDR10+ support.

Other features include the Magic Screen 2.0 that transforms the typical black screen into an interactive background displaying decorative contents or useful information like the latest news, weather and time, and the Magic Cable that combines fiber-optic data transfer cables with the power cable for clean cable organization.

The 4K models are priced from 1.44 million won ($1,270), with the 65-inch Q90 series at 5.59 million won, 75-inch 9.39 million won, 82-inch 10.99 million won. The 8K series are priced at 6.89 million won for 65-inch, 10.19 million won for 75-inch, and 15.90 million won for 82-inch.
