Hyundai Motor Co.’s all-new fourth-generation Santa Fe obtained the maximum five-star rating in the 2018 Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) safety tests, the South Korean auto giant said Thursday.

The new car assessment program tested Hyundai Santa Fe in four categories - safety of adult occupant, safety of child occupant, safety of vulnerable road users and safety assistance system. Hyundai Santa Fe received high scores of 94 percent and 88 percent in categories of safety of adult occupant and safety child occupant, respectively.

Hyundai Motor explained its winning largely owed to the SUV model’s strong body structure and advanced driving safety features like forward collision-avoidance assist, blind spot collision warning and lane keeping assist.

“This year’s Euro NCAP safety tests were toughest ever with new and more demanding challenges on safety technologies, which proves that Hyundai Santa Fe can give the safe driving experience to customers,” said an official at Hyundai Motor.
