South Korean auto parts maker Mando Corp. held a ceremony to celebrate its launch of new electronic brake system (EBS) called MGH-100 on Tuesday, the company announced Wednesday.

The MGH-100 is an anti-lock brake system (ABS) that enhances driving safety by reducing skidding while braking. The product is part of the company¡¯s electronic stability control (ESC) system that prevents a car from losing control from skidding or over-steering, and a core module to electronic brakes manufactured by Mando and autonomous vehicles.

Mando began mass production of the MGH-100 in March in South Korea and China and has not reported a single defect. It has supplied more than 20,000 units of MGH-100 to Chinese automaker South East Motor Corp., and to other finished car makers including SAIC GM, Geely, Changan Auto in China and Ssangyong Motor in Korea.

The MGH-100 is featured with more than 40 functions necessary to autonomous driving including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and adaptive cruise control (ACC).

Mando aims to start manufacturing the MGH-100 in India, Brazil and Mexico to increase total output capacity to 3 million units by 2020 and 5 million by 2021.

Mando became the nation¡¯s first car maker to mass produce an ABS product called MGH-10 in 1999, which allowed the domestic auto parts manufacturers to save costs significantly by reducing their reliance on foreign imports.

On Thursday, shares of Mando rose 0.15 percent to close at 34,050 won.
