LG CNS Co., system integration unit of South Korea¡¯s LG Group, will spin off its in-house venture Danbee, artificial intelligence-powered chatbot developer, the company said Thursday.

Danbee started off as LG CNS¡¯s in-house venture in January 2017. It is led by a team of four LG CNS employees who won a company business plan competition with an idea for an open chatbot builder platform.

The platform enables developers without extensive knowledge in artificial intelligence technology to create chatbot or a computer program that performs automated tasks via text or voice interactions with humans through Amazon Web Services¡¯ cloud computing infrastructure. It is currently connected with six mobile massagers including Kakao Talk and Facebook.

Danbee is the first in-house venture that LG CNS is spinning off. The company said Danbee started to deliver good results in just four months after it took off and added it will continue to support Danbee for further growth.

LG CNS has been developing new business ideas through in-house venture incubation. It currently is running a team that develops a new business framework using blockchain technology and plans to launch another in-house venture for developing IT technology to be used in healthcare and robotics industries within this year.

The company plans to continue encouraging its employees to share and develop new business ideas freely, said an LG CNS official. ¡°It will give its utmost support to its employees to help them build their ideas into an actual business.¡±
