CJ Logistics opens new logistics center in Shenyang, China

South Korea¡¯s largest parcel delivery service company CJ Logistics Corp. on Tuesday opened a logistics center sitting on an area equivalent to nearly 14 soccer fields in Shenyang, China that is expected to help it accelerate its inroad into the logistics market in northeast China.

According to CJ Logistics, the new center commanding a land of 97,630 square meters have various spaces for parcels requiring different storage conditions such as a specific size, temperature and humidity. It also has a dock with capacity for 33 large vehicles and parking lots for 100 cars, the company said.

CJ Logistics expects the new center would meet high logistics demand from various companies ranging from vehicle and auto parts makers to food manufacturers based within a 10-km radius from the center.

The company aims to expand its logistics network to cover all three provinces in Northeast China, or Dongbei, including Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. With the opening of the new center, the company plans to make a preemptive investment in the economic and logistics hub of Northeast China that is also a gateway to Russia and to accelerate its plan to enhance its logistics business in the area.

CJ Logistics posted an operating profit of 45.3 billion won ($42.1 million) on a consolidated basis for the quarter ended March, down 11.4 percent from a year ago. Sales rose 25.5 percent on year to 2 trillion won, while net income soared 686.1 percent to 34.8 billion won.
