Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. will start selling its popular compact, petrol-electric hybrid hatchback ‘Prius C’ in Korea on Wednesday, according to Toyota Korea on Wednesday.

Toyota Korea will hold a special exhibition event to showcase its Prius C model in Seoul between March 14 and 27. Prius C is compact hatchback model of the Japanese carmaker’s electric car brand Prius.

Prius C made its global debut in 2011 and has been well received across the world especially in the United States. Toyota accumulatively has sold more than 1.5 million units of Prius C.

Prius C offers great fuel economy of 35.4 kilometers per liter and has 12 different colors to choose from, said a Toyota Korea official.

Toyota Korea has been selling mid-sized hybrid sedan Prius, Prius V wagon and plug-in hybrid Prius Prime in Korea until now. It hopes to attract young Korean drivers with the compact version Prius C.
