Hyundai Motor¡¯s Grandeur mid-sized passenger sedan, also known as Azera in North America, is regaining strength in its home South Korean market, surpassing 100,000 units in sales this year, the first achievement since 2011, when its predecessor fifth-generation models hit 107,584.

The country¡¯s largest automaker said on Wednesday Grandeur sales came to 104,246 units for the first nine months this year.

No other models in the carmaker¡¯s line-up have touched the 100,000 threshold in Korea this year. The sixth-generation Grandeur sedan was launched in November 2016.

In Korea, previous records of above 100,000 units by any single car model were set in 2015, but nobody broke the record last year amid slow consumer demand.

By model, sales of Grandeur IG came to 90,437 units, followed by Grandeur IG Hybrid launched in March with 11,661 units, and the fifth generation Grandeur HG with 2,148 units. The Hybrid model, in particular, already achieved this year¡¯s target sales of 10,000 units.
