Asleep, a South Korean sleep tracking software startup, is in talks with big tech companies like Google LLC and cosmetics giant L¡¯Oreal Group for partnership in the field of applying its artificial intelligence (AI)-based sleep diagnosis solution technology to their services and products.

Maeil Business Newspaper has learned on Monday that Asleep is receiving many calls from global entities and institutions for the technology of its AI-based sleep diagnosis solution based on the deep learning of breathing data of 7,000 individuals during sleep.

¡°Four big tech companies in the U.S. such as Google and Amazon.com have expressed interest and we are making progress in the talks,¡± said Lee Dong-heon, chief executive officer at Asleep. ¡°The talks involve integrating Asleep¡¯s AI sleep diagnosis solution to their various business systems.¡±

L¡¯Oreal has also shown interest in Asleep¡¯s solution recently. The move comes after Alseep signed a memorandum of understanding with Amorepacific Corp. in October last year to apply AI sleep diagnosis application to develop skincare products, according to Lee.

Asleep has used AI technology to machine-learn the breathing sounds of sleepers including those suffering from insomnia and sleep apnea.

The startup is set to widen its global footprint by hosting the world¡®s first sleep tech symposium from March 16 to 17 in line with the World Sleep Day that is organized annually by the World Sleep Society. The symposium will be attended by global big tech companies, major sleep tech firms and sleep experts from around the world.
