Macrogen to export Covid-19 testing trailers via LG International

South Korea¡¯s biotechnology company Macrogen Inc. signed a contract with LG International Corp. to export its Covid-19 testing trailers.

The company announced Wednesday that it will export two units of the trailer booths called ¡°Smart Mobile Lab¡± to Indonesia through LG International. The two companies are also in talks to sign additional deals to ship the products to other nations.

Smart Mobile Lab is a Covid-19 testing trailer that can be moved from one place to another. The trailer that allows one-stop testing from screening to diagnosis would especially come in handy in countries lacking testing infrastructure. The company will also offer operation guidelines, staff training and maintenance service.

The testing trailers can be used for screening infections of other virus. The company is preparing to apply for patents for the product¡¯s unique design and differentiated functions.

LG International, the trading unit of LG Group, has been recently picked as the 15th supporter of small and mid-sized firms by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The company has been helping SMEs¡¯ overseas entry and business expansion by utilizing its global marketing capabilities and broad network.

¡°We have monitored how countries around the world are dealing with Covid-19 since we entered the new molecular diagnosis business and found that it is not enough to just provide test kits,¡± Macrogen CEO Lee Su-kang said. ¡°Through the exporting contract, we will contribute to strengthening the world¡¯s Covid-19 response capabilities by providing Korea¡¯s superior prevention system and broadening the reach of medical services.¡±

He also added that the company will continue to extend cooperation with LG International to improve performance of its new businesses and enhance shareholders¡¯ returns.

Shares of Macrogen ended up 0.47 percent at 31,800 won ($27.31) at the Kosdaq market on Wednesday.
