The latest 3D-LiDAR sensor is developed using SK Telecom¡¯s 1,550-nanometer wavelength sensor module and PSSI¡¯s 2D MEMS Mirror scanning technology, which have helped significantly improve the resolution and detection rate of the latest LiDAR compared with the previous versions. The new sensor is capable of measuring an object at a long distance of up to 500 meters, according to the company.

LiDAR technology is considered one of key components that can enable autonomous driving. PSSI, autonomous driving-related business subsidiary of Pioneer, aims to start commercial production of the new 3D LiDAR sensor in 2021.
