Samsung Electronics premiered its exoskeleton-assisted wearable robot Gait Enhancing & Motivating System (GEMS) and Samsung Bot products lineup developed as part of the company¡¯s AI project at the CES 2019 trade show on Tuesday.

The GEMS wearable robot is designed to help people with walking disabilities or in rehab move around more easily and quickly by easing the burden on related muscles. It can be worn on the ankle, knee or hip joint with which users can enhance muscle strength.

The GEMS when worn on the hip joint supports about 20 percent of body strength for walking, allowing users to walk faster. The GEMS worn on the knee is for arthritis patients or those in rehab and designed to relieve burden on the knee by supporting a body weight of more than 30 kilograms. Users are also able to walk 10 percent faster by wearing the ankle support, the company said.
