LG Electronics adds 21 seasoned AI, robotics engineers to its R&D crew

LG Electronics Co. is on an aggressive hunt for brain power at home and abroad as competition heats up to secure lacking talents in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and IT software.

It newly hired 21 engineers after an extensive review on the candidates including an in-depth interview by tech specialist, said LG Electronics on Monday. The new recruits include an engineer from Russia¡¯s top software research center, according to the company.

The Korean electronics maker has been bolstering its research and development capabilities over the past decade. About 230 senior research scientists and engineers are engaged in various projects from design, hardware and software upgrades to logistics.

The company said it is providing extra perks and benefits to the R&D crew in order not to lose them. The new members will officially start their work at LG Electronics early next month.
