South Korea¡¯s electronic materials and components supplier LG Innotek Co. announced Monday that it succeeded in developing a cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) module based on long-term evolution (LTE) networks.

The C-V2X module is a core part of a data-sharing system among vehicles, pedestrians and traffic infrastructure. The module will help finished car makers and auto parts makers speed up their development of next-generation traffic communication platforms as it can work alone without hundreds of other components and complicated software that are necessary in current V2X communication systems, the company said.

The module is applied with the LTE C-V2X standardization defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) last March. It is also easy to install in any parts of a vehicle as the device is just one-third the size of a credit card, according to company.

¡°We have succeeded in developing the module thanks to our outstanding circuit technology and auto part business know-how,¡± said an official from the company. ¡°It is the world¡¯s first module that can be installed in connected cars and autonomous vehicles.¡±

LG Innotek will unveil the new C-V2X module at Electronica Munich 2018, the world¡¯s largest trade fair and conference for electronics that will run on Nov.13-16 in Munich, Germany.
