Kakao Entertainment Corp. has signed a partnership agreement with U.S. music magazine Billboard on Wednesday, in a move to promote K-pop more effectively.
According to Kakao Entertainment on Thursday, the agreement was signed at its headquarters in Jongno District, central Seoul, by Joseph Chang, the company¡¯s co-chief executive officer, Mike Van, president of Billboard, and Yuna Kim, CEO and publisher of Billboard Korea.
It is the first time for Billboard to forge an official partnership on K-pop.
Under the partnership, Kakao Entertainment, Billboard, and Billboard Korea will collectively showcase K-pop content to the global audience.
They will also jointly work on marketing initiatives and promotions to support K-pop artists and explore new business models in the K-pop industry.
Billboard has been expanding its ties with Korean companies ahead of the release of Billboard Korea Volume 1 in June.
