Korea¡¯s SK Group chief joining CES 2023 and Davos Forum in January

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 held in Las Vegas from Jan. 5 to 8 to present carbon zero initiative of South Korea¡¯s second largest conglomerate behind the world¡¯s leading chip, battery, and energy companies.

According to the industry sources on Wednesday, Chey has made the international tech event his first business engagement for next year. It would be his first appearance at the tech show.

He would be expounding on carbon phase-out initiative of the business group.

In this year event, SK Inc., SK innovation, SK telecom, SK hynix, SK ecoplant, and SK E&S joined to set up the ¡°Green Forest Pavilion,¡± where they demonstrated the group vision to reduce 200 million tons of carbon, equivalent to 1 percent of the global carbon reduction target (21 billion tons) by 2030.

From Las Vegas, Chey will head to the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2023 to be held in Davos, Switzerland, from Jan. 15 to 20. During his stay there, he will host Korea Night 2023 to pitch for Busan¡¯s bid to host the 2030 World Expo. The Korea Night event first started in 2009 at Chey¡¯s proposal.
