Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. has made tangible outcomes in its accelerated digital transformation designed to help power plant operators and builders drive innovative solutions through the application of digital and disruptive technologies.

The company¡¯s dedication was recognized this year at the third IDC Digital Transformation (DX) Awards where its digital innovation executive Sohn Woo-hyung recently won DX Leader, the company announced on Thursday.

The award established by market tracker IDC honors companies that have successfully digitalized their operations with measurable synergy between business and IT management disciplines.

Doosan Heavy Industries have developed and delivered various digital solutions to Korean and overseas power plants based on the combination of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence to raise power generation efficiency and security, while reducing carbon dioxide and other pollutants.

The company¡¯s Changwon plant in Korea recently automated steam turbine production and introduced welding robots to its boiler and nuclear power plant manufacturing process, saving costs of more than 3 billion won ($2.54 million). In 2017, 1.2 billion won were saved after the introduction of a location-based system for heavy equipment allocation to check their availability in real time and remove waste elements.
