Samsung Electronics, SK hynix stocks surge on U.S. rally

The stocks of Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc. rose sharply on Tuesday morning, buoyed by the advancement in U.S. stocks.

Shares of Samsung Electronics were trading at 80,200 won ($59) as of 10:35 a.m., up 3.35 percent from the previous session.

Shares of SK hynix rose 4.04 percent to 180,200 won while those of Leeno Industrial Inc. soared 9.67 percent to 300,500 won and HANMI Semiconductor Co. increased 6.23 percent to 138,100 won.

In a separate development, Korchip Corp, a manufacturer of ultra-small secondary batteries, made a successful debut on the tech-heavy Kosdaq market on Tuesday.

Shares of Korchip were trading 61.39 percent higher than the initial public offering price of 18,000 won at 29,050 won.

Established in 1994, Korchip specializes in producing chipcell carbon products and lithium-based chipcell secondary batteries.

During its book-building session, the competition ratio was 988 to 1. The offering price was set at 18,000 won, higher than the top end of the desired price range of between 11,000 won and 14,000 won.
