Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang warmly welcomed a recent decision made by Samsung Electronics Co. to drastically increase investment in its Texas plant. He hailed it as a prominent investment and hinted at Nvidia¡¯s ongoing collaboration with Samsung Electronics amid the U.S. chip giant¡®s ongoing testing of the Korean chipmaker¡¯s high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.

Huang made headlines during his visit to the GTC 2024 at the San Jose Convention Center in California, United States, where he stopped by the Samsung Electronics booth and signed ¡°Jensen Approved¡± on Samsung Electronics¡® next-generation HBM chips, HBM3E.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) Chief Executive Lisa Su also hinted at a potential partnership with Samsung Electronics¡¯ Taylor plant, suggesting a promising avenue for the Korean company¡®s foray into the artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.

In response to the U.S. Department of Commerce¡¯s announcement of up to $6.4 billion in direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act for Samsung Electronics, Huang conveyed his congratulations via a message released by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He affirmed Nvidia¡®s commitment to maintaining its longstanding partnership with Samsung Electronics and its Taylor plant.

With its plans to operate two advanced foundry fabs at Taylor for 4-nm and 2-nm processes, Samsung Electronics¡¯ chip manufacturing drive holds significant implications for both Nvidia and AMD, enabling them to compete more effectively in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
