Former president Lee Myung-bak Wednesday morning appeared at the prosecution office for questioning over multiple corruption charges including bribery, embezzlement and tax evasion, becoming the fifth ex-Korean leader to face prosecution probe for misdeeds in office.

¡°I am very sorry for causing anxieties to the people. I have much to say as a former president, but I will save my words,¡± he told reporters.

Lee ended his five-year presidential term in February 2013 and was succeeded by Park Geun-hye of the same conservative party who was ousted before her term ended on power abuse and other charges. Lee¡¯s counts could outnumber Park, given the scope of 120-page questions against him.
