Fees for about 88 healthcare services will be adjusted on July 15 as per a newly-issued circular, the Ministry of Health said.

The adjustment will be applied to examination, bed, and technical service fees such as X-ray, MRI, CT scanner, and PET CT fees at all hospitals and clinics.

Under the circular, examination fees will drop by 15 to 20 per cent, or about VNĐ4,800 to 5,900 (US$0.21 to 0.26), at hospitals and clinics nationwide.

Bed fees will be reduced by 2 to 10 per cent, depending on hospital class. However, beds for patients who in intensive care departments or those undergoing organ transplant or stem cell transplant procedures will increase slightly to VNĐ687,100 (US$30) from VNĐ677,100 (US$29.60) to per day.

Other services will see a sharp reduction in fees, such as amygdala cutting whose rates will fall to VNĐ2 million (US$87) from VNĐ3.6 million (US$157).

The circular also limited the fixed number of patients in each examination room to 65 per day.

Should any clinic or hospital exceed that number, a medical insurance agency will be required to pay only 50 per cent of examination fees.

Furthermore, if the situation lasts for three consecutive months, the examination fees for the patients in excess of the limit will not be paid.
