Korean builders eye $74.8 bn overseas deals at Global Project Plaza 2018

South Korea¡¯s largest project fair Global Project Plaza 2018 will run from April 17 to 19 at Intercontinental Seoul Coex in Seoul, allowing Korean constructors to take the opportunity to win overseas construction deals worth $74.8 billion in total.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, 70 participants from 37 countries including Vietnam and Ghana will meet with Korean engineering companies to discuss their infrastructure, environment, energy and plant projects at the event. The fair invitations also have gone to officials at state transportation departments in Maryland, Arizona and Virginia in the U.S. that is gearing up for the infrastructure investment worth $1.5 trillion under the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Foreign participants will meet local engineering companies to decide whom they will entrust their project, the ministry said.

The Global Project Plaza has been held annually since 2008 to support Korean engineering and construction companies in winning overseas deals. A total of 23 projects worth $4.7 billion, including the restoration project of a refinery in the United Arab Emirates, have been arranged through the event until now. The trade ministry plans to help a Korean company win Vietnam¡¯s $1.2 billion worth solar power plant deal through this year¡¯s event.
