SK Innovation the best-paying company in S. Korea

SK Innovation Co. was ranked the highest-paying company in South Korea with median salaries above 93 million won ($86,835), data showed.

According to the latest report released by careers site JobKorea on Monday, the country`s leading oil refiner topped the list of employers with the highest median compensation out of Korea¡¯s top 100 companies by market cap surveyed as of September 2017.

Meritz Securities Co. came second with 92.6 million won, followed by another oil refinery S-Oil Corp. with 90.3 million won.

The best-paying company for male employees was Meritz Securities at 108.5 million won. For women, it was Naver, operator of Korea¡¯s largest online portal, at 67.6 million won.

Kia Motors Corp., the country¡¯s second largest automaker, showed the longest average employee tenure of 20.3 years, followed by telecommunications company KT Corp. with 20.2 years and steelmaker Posco with 19.7 years. Kia¡¯s larger sister company Hyundai Motor Co. came fourth with 18.9 years.

The company with the highest share of male workers was Hyundai Steel Company at 97.3 percent.

Samsung Electronics Co. was the largest company by staff size, with employees numbering 99,836. The second-largest was Hyundai Motor with 68,194, followed by LG Electronics Inc. with 37,700, Kia Motors with 34,752 and LG Display Co. with 33,242.
