Hyundai and foreign brands ordered to recall 1M vehicles for faulty parts

The government said Thursday it has ordered Hyundai Motor and several foreign automakers to recall nearly one million vehicles in total due to defective parts.

Hyundai Motor and foreign brands were instructed to recall 930,865 units of 54 vehicle types, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said.

Hyundai Motor will recall 915,283 Sonata NF and Grandeur TG mid-size sedans for fire-prone ABS/VDC modules that electronically control brakes and engine output systems.

BMW¡¯s 7,787 vehicles of 31 models and Chrysler¡¯s 2,095 units will be ordered for air bag defects.

Mercedes-Benz Korea will recall 186 Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan and coupes over a possible program error in their electronic stability program and nine S350 BlueTEC vehicles for defective seat belt pre-tensioners.
