Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) of State University of New York Korea (SUNY Korea) on Thursday held an opening ceremony of the school in Songdo-dong, Incheon. This is SUNY’s third overseas campus.

FIT of State University of New York (SUNY) is an internationally recognized college for design, fashion, art, communications, and fashion business. Global leading fashion figures Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and American apparel brand Nautica’s Founder David Chu are amongst its renowned graduates. Including its Incheon campus in Korea, SUNY now runs total four campuses across the globe with its main campus in New York in the United States, as well as two foreign campuses in Firenze and Milan, each, in Italy.

The Korean campus is expected to attract not only Korean students but also students from neighboring Asian countries who want to take courses offered by the prestigious global fashion school.

FIT in Korea accepts total 70 new students every year, including 20 for the fashion design department and 50 for the fashion business management department. In August, total 52 were admitted for the fall semester - 15 for the design and 37 for the business management. The enrolled students will take the full course for two years in Korea and then move to study at either the New York campus or one of campuses in Italy for the same period to earn a diploma. All program courses offered in Korea are the same as those of the home campuses and taught by the same faculty.
