Amid escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula from the exchange of deadly talks between heads of the United States and North Korea, South Korean President Moon Jae-in will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin early next month and debut on the United Nations later in the month.

Moon is meeting Putin on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2017 slated for Sept 6 and 7, according to the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae on Tuesday.

Moon had separate talks with Putin during Group of 20 summit conference last month in Hamburg, Germany. He will make a keynote speech at the EEF devoted to develop the resource-rich easternmost part of the Eurasian Continent.

Moon will be making his second visit to the U.S. since taking office in May to make his debut speech at the UN General Assembly on Sept. 19. He will be meeting a number of state leaders on the sidelines to draw support for the implementation of the toughest-yet UN Security Council resolution on North Korea that passed early this month following a series of intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

Other confirmed overseas itineraries are the Nov. 10-11 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Vietnam, and subsequent Nov. 13-14 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)+3 and the East Asia Summit (EAS) meetings in the Philippines.
