Seoul Motor Show to become a contest of fuel cell vehicles

The upcoming Seoul Motor Show running from March 30 to April 9 will allow drivers to consider their future fuel choices for motor vehicle as the event would show off all possible electric vehicle options - from hybrids to full EVs.

The event at Kintex, Ilsan, north of Seoul, will exhibit over 300 cars from 27 automakers.

Hyundai Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. will use the stage to unveil their fuel cell EVs. Many believe fuel cell will be the ultimate consumer choice to power EVs as it takes only three minutes for a charge.

Toyoto will showcase fuel cell-powered Lexus dubbed FCEV Cncept LF-FC. The Japanese carmaker hopes to expand its customer base with the new car along with its Mirai - the world¡¯s first commercially accessible hydrogen fuel cell sedan.

Honda will unveil Clarity Fuel Cell in Seoul, which can go as far as 366 miles (589 kilometers) per single charge, the longest range achieved by any electric or hydrogen-powered cars yet.

South Korea¡¯s largest automaker Hyundai Motor will unveil its Future Eco (FE) FCEV concept for the first time in Asia at the Seoul Motor Show. The sport utility vehicle (SUV) FE FCEV Concept is designed to go more than 497 miles per single charge. Compared to its current Tucson ix35 Fuel Cell, the new car is made 20 percent lighter and 10 percent more efficient, fitted with the fourth-generation fuel-cell system.
