The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said Wednesday it is sponsoring a fair in Indonesia to draw tourists for medical checkup, healthcare, and treatment in Korea.

The fair held in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 20-22 is part of the government¡¯s pitch for advanced Korean medical technologies and infrastructure to attract value-added tourism revenue from Southeast Asia, China, Russia, Japan and the United States, it added.

About 50 companies will join the event including ten major hospitals as well as beauty shops.

On the first day, a business-to-business consulting session will be held at Fairmont Jakarta hotel in Jakarta for 300 VIP customers of Korean banks doing service in Indonesian market like KEB Hana Bank and CIMB Bank.

The show opens to the public from July 21 at Mall Taman Anggrek in Jakarta.

Total 321,574 tourists visited Korea last year for medical treatment purpose, of which 2,385 were Indonesians. Visitors from Indonesia spent 3,260,000 won ($2,884.96), more than 1.6 times the average spending by medical tourists.

The same fair will head to Thailand and the Philippines in the second half of this year.
