South Korea¡¯s National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives has opened its second export support center in the United States in New Jersey after the west coast base in Los Angeles to better cater one of its biggest markets.

The New Jersey office will provide marketing support, office areas, legal advice and translation services as well as administrative and sales support.

The first U.S.-based support center opened in September last year in Los Angeles.

Korea¡¯s exports of fishery products reached $560 million in the January-March period, up 16.4 percent from a year ago, according to the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives. The U.S., Japan, and China are the Korea¡¯s top three fisheries markets accounting for 61 percent of Korean shipments.

¡°Two more centers will open next week each in Bangkok, Thailand, and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to accelerate inroads into the Southeast Asian fisheries market,¡± said an official.
