South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. won a 50 billion won ($47 million) contract from Indonesian state power company PLN to supply engines and other crucial parts to seven power stations located across the country with combined capacity of 86 megawatt, the company announced Wednesday.

Hyundai Heavy Industries secured the order in a consortium with Indonesia’s PT Truba Jaya Engineering. The Korean firm will supply 21 units of 4.1-megawatt ‘Himsen Engine’ power generators and other related equipments while the latter will handle overall procurement and installation process.

Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Himsen Engine is self-developed, medium-sized engine for generating electric power. It is used mainly in ships and power plants, and considered eco-friendly as its user can choose to run the engine by either diesel or natural gas.

The Himsen Engines will be installed at seven power stations located across Indonesia including Nunukan power plant on Borneo island and Waingapu power plant on Sumba island by September this year.

The latest deal comes more meaningful as it is the firm’s first contract in Indonesia, which is the largest market in ASEAN region and has big rooms for growth, said a Hyundai Heavy Industries. Indonesia currently is preparing to construct another massive 35,000-megawatt power station by next year.

Shares of Hyundai Heavy Industries finished Wednesday at 134,000 won, down 1.47 percent from the previous session.
