Swedish commercial truck maker Scania released its new premium lineup, its ambitious 2-billion-euro project, dubbed All New Scania in Korea for the first time in Asia in show of confidence in the Korean market, executives said in Seoul.

The company aims to make a third of its shipment go to Asia by 2020, and Korea is the ¡°core part of this growth strategy,¡± said Mathias Carlbaum, executive vice president doubling as the head of commercial operations, in a press conference.

¡°If you can manage Korean standards, you can manage any country standards (in Asia),¡± added Kaj Farm, managing director of Scania Korea.

The company sold a total of 815 units in Korea last year, commanding the third largest share in the Korean heavy truck market with 18.3 percent after Volvo Trucks with 39.0 percent and MAN Truck & Bus with 21.5 percent.

Scania will soon disclose details to launch a bus model in Korea.
