South Korea’s fourth largest automaker Ssangyong Motors Co. said on Monday its India-headed shipment in SUV model G4 Rexton will be assembled locally.

Ssangyong Motors signed a deal with its largest shareholder Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) to assemble its premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) model G4 Rexton at M&M’s Chakan factory from the second half of 2018 to December 31, 2023.

The direct assembly could bolster Ssangyong’s sales amid fast-growing SUV demand in India.

Ssangyong’s G4 Rexton received positive reviews at the Auto Expo 2018 last week.

“We’ll speed up efforts to expand our presence in the global market by developing new models and making inroads into other countries in partnership with M&M,” said an official at Ssangyong Motors.
