South Korea¡¯s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. said on Tuesday that it will join hands with the world¡¯s largest e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. to introduce industry¡¯s first premium video content streaming service applying high dynamic range 10 plus (HDR10+) technology.

The partnership will allow owners of Samsung Electronics¡¯ 2017 version quantum dot liquid emitting diode (QLED) TVs and ultra high definition (UHD) TVs to enjoy premium video content applied with HDR10+ technology through Amazon Prime Video starting Wednesday.

Video content with improved image quality will be offered to Amazon Prime Video subscribers in about 100 original shows including The Grand Tour, The Tick, The Man in the High Castle, and Tom Clancy¡¯s Jack Ryan.

HDR10+ is one of technical forms that help realize HDR advanced video technology. HDR improves overall screen contrast by presenting brighter whites and darker blacks, offering viewers with more real-life screen.

Samsung Electronics and Amazon.com plan to continue to expand its latest partnership to offer more video content supporting HDR10+ technology. The move comes after Samsung Electronics announced plans in September to forge new partnership with 20th Century Fox and Panasonic to take the lead in next-generation HDR technology by creating an open platform. Next month, they plan to form a licensing entity and an associated certification and logo program.
