Samsung Electronics Co. on Thursday promoted 221 employees to executive-level titles in its follow-up reshuffle to recent appointments in CEO level. The lion’s share, or 99 of them, got promoted from semiconductor and display operations that have been delivering record-breaking quarterly performances.

The number of promotions represented the highest figure since 227 in 2014. Executive promotions in the device solutions (DS) division doubled against 2016 and 2015. More than half of the newly appointed executives came from R&D functions, and seven women were included in the promotion list with three of them from the DS division.

The company also newly appointed one fellow researcher and 15 master researchers.

The regular reshuffle came about two weeks after it named new heads of its major business divisions amid the absence of the group heir and vice chairman Jay Y. Lee.
