YG Ent sets up Singapore operation to launch business venture in Southeast Asia

YG Entertainment Inc. that manages popular South Korean pop artists and entertainers including Bigbang and Blackpink established a Singapore outlet to launch entertainment-based businesses in the Southeast Asian market.

YG Entertainment¡¯s subsidiary YG Plus Inc. said on Monday it was opening up Singapore branch for ventures in cosmetics, food & beverage, sports and model management fields and start new business that can create synergy with its existing business.

YG Plus has decided to make strategic investment in Singapore-based Gushcloud International via YG Investment Inc., the investment unit of YG Entertainment. Gushcloud International is an influencer marketing and entertainment company that has outlets in Malaysia and Indonesia.

YG Entertainment has branched out to non-entertainment areas like restaurant, cosmetics and model management via YG Plus, a former advertising agency that came under YG umbrella from South Korea¡¯s conglomerate Bokwang Group in November 2014.

Shares of YG Entertainment closed Tuesday unchanged at 28,000 won, while shares of YG Plus closed 2.45 percent up at 1,855 won from the previous session.
