South Korea’s Hyundai Merchant Marine Co.(HMM) ranked top in the world in terms of on-time operation reliability for the first time since its foundation.

SeaIntel, a Denmark-based shipping market analysis company, said on Monday that HMM topped the list of on-time performance in August by attaining 85.4 percent of on-schedule operations, 10.2 percentage points higher than the average reliability rate of 75.2 percent for top 18 shippers.

The country’s leading container carrier climbed three spots from the fourth place in the previous month by achieving 1.3 percentage point higher schedule reliability.

The latest data analyzed on-time performance of HMM and other members of 2M Alliance including Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co. that are operating American, European, Atlantic, Indian and South American routes.

The company said its on-time performance jumped to 94.6 percent after excluding its 2M partners, demonstrating its top service quality in the world.
